May 14th, 2009 Mentoring/Coaching

Hi Everyone! :-)
Another busy week but I finally managed to get here………. The week has been full of controversy for political leaders again.

Bankers and MPs In Turmoil

First it was the Bankers getting into trouble over high risk loans and now it is the MPs over high risk expenses.  A lot of MPs are fast losing public confidence and as soon as they dare raise their heads above the parapet, another public tomato or rotten spud is thrown at them in the stocks. It is real cringe worthy stuff that is going on in the press.

Splitting Hairs

Personally, this week, I was more interested in why Peter and Katie broke up. So why this strange phenomenon since I have never been a great fan of celebrities?  Perhaps, celebrities would win more public confidence or is it that I am sick of hearing politicians ranting at each other in a negative way in the House of Commons? Moreover, perhaps it is because Katie has been much more civil over the split compared to the way in which the MPs have had to split hairs in recent months.

The Struggle for The People

Indeed, recession is proving to be a great leveller. People that would turn their noses up to discount grocery stores abound there by the score alongside their historically poorer counterparts; the middle classes are converting to cash currencies in charity shops and own brands are making a comeback. I have always said that brand snobbery does indeed need to die out but then I do have 3 children.

The fight for survival of personal aspiration is the social leveller right now. In a strange way I do welcome recession for this reason alone.

The Internal Struggle for The BME Not for Profit

Survival within voluntary and community organisations is a more complex matter, however, and getting to the route of problems within organisations is never easy. A lot of companies that I have worked with fail to examine the inside and focus on external factors. This week I attach a useful diagnostic tool for you to identify the external and internal issues which your organisations or businesses should focus on before they will have a chance to become sustainable.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS TEMPLATE AND OR TO RECEIVE ANY SUPPLEMENTARY ADVICE. I AM PLANNING TO INVITE INDIVIDUALS INTO A CHAT ROOM SOON TO DISCUSS TOPICS LIKE THIS, SO KEEP ME POSTED IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN ME BY CLICKING ON CONTACT BUTTON.
